The reason you cannot write really realistic fiction is that there is nothing that you can call "reality". People are complicated even when they are imbeciles, or at least their lives are. Every day something happens that "could" have happened differently. Every day of your life, there are details that you miss, that you are too stupid to pick up right away. Your life as it plays is too boring, and too bizarre to write.
