Harlequin Aims at NASCAR Fans

"If it's true that opposites attract, then a licensing agreement between Harlequin Romance novels and NASCAR Inc., should be a marriage made in heaven. The first offspring of this new union, a racetrack romance entitled In the Groove by Pamela Britton, goes on sale Tuesday — just a few weeks before the Daytona 500 on Feb. 19. Two other NASCAR-themed love stories will be published this year: On the Edge by Britton in September and A NASCAR Holiday by Kimberly Raye, Roxanne St. Claire and Debra Webb in November."

A million comments about unemployed women in trailer parks come to me. You can feel the noxious stupidity radiating from these books even before they are published. You know these people, these shrill, dense airheads in their short-shorts standing in the checkout line in Walmart.

Rick Moranis' Album nominated for Grammy

Image hosting by Photobucket
"After nearly a decade-long self-imposed hiatus from major screenwork, funnyman Rick Moranis has unintentionally launched a side career as a singer. Since its release last fall, his offbeat country album has taken off, earning major label support and a Grammy nomination to boot."

Maybe he's moving beyond the geek stereotype. For his entire career, Moranis has been prime example of casting-based-solely-on-appearance, particularly unattractive appearance. He took the mantle from Don knotts.

Ever Which Way But Loose

Once again Hollywood goes out of its way to fuck up a classic. Well, not exactly a classic, but a fun movie nonetheless. Is The Rock this generation's Clint Eastwood? Are things really that bad with the youth?
I think that the kids we have now are way more out of touch with all that has gone before than pretty much every previous generation in history. I can say without seeing this movie, and I can't imagine myself ever bothering to watch it, that it sucks and the Clint Eastwood version was way better.
